Tarot
Every playable witch reads her own tarot. A deck holds 22 cards, each bought with Anima at the Tarot Shop and then set upright or reversed for two different bonuses. 132 cards across 6 decks in this build.
Tarot Shop: 6 decks, 132 cards in total.
Where to get them
The Tarot Shop sits in the Circle, and it opens once the story has taken you through it.
The scene that opens it: First Tarot Upgrade.
Upright, Reversed and Anima
- Upright
- The side a card is bought on by default. Only this side's bonuses count while the card sits upright.
- Reversed
- The other face of the same card, with its own separate bonuses. A card is never both at once.
- Anima
- The currency you earn on a run and spend at the Tarot Shop. Card prices in a deck run from 100 to 3,000, and 2 cards per deck cost nothing.
- Purchase
- You pay a card's Anima cost once. After that, turning it upright or reversed is free and you can do it as often as you like. Only the side the card is on right now applies its bonuses.
- Ability cards
- 11 of the 22 cards in a deck do more than move a stat: they change how that character's ability behaves. They are marked in the card list.
In game, the shop door shows: Locked! A plaque on the door reads: One unlocks their fate by drawing their very first spell
How you earn Anima
- Staying alive
- 1 Anima for every 10 seconds of the run.
- Killing monsters
- 1 Anima for every 10 monsters.
- Elites
- 1 Anima each.
- Bosses
- 100 Anima each.
- Getting out alive
- The whole payout is multiplied by 1.5 when you extract instead of dying.
- Pearls
- Each active pearl adds 0.1 to that multiplier.
Tiers and prices
The tier is printed in the corner of the card and nothing else in the game reads it. It tracks the card's price band, not a rule.
| Tier | Cards per deck | Cheapest | Dearest | Whole tier, one deck |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| T1 | 5 | 100 | 500 | 1,500 |
| T2 | 5 | 600 | 1,000 | 4,000 |
| T4 | 5 | 1,200 | 2,000 | 8,000 |
| T5 | 5 | 2,200 | 3,000 | 13,000 |
T3 is a tier the game knows about, with no card in this build.
Every deck, side by side
How the Circle explains it
The Circle
You have collected sufficient anima to reveal a new Fate Card.
The Circle
Understand there are two sides to each Fate Card, the Sun and the Moon.
The Circle
You must choose a side, but may change your fate as it pleases you. Most do not have this luxury.
